Daihatsu Dominated the List of Most-Fuel-Efficient Cars

Daihatsu dominated the list of most-fuel-efficient cars with its models; Mira, Move, Sonica, and Move Conte.

According to Japan’s Ministry of Transportation (MLIT), the top ten most fuel-efficient gasoline cars (in the light vehicles category) of 2008, are the following:

  1. Daihatsu Mira (Cuore)
  2. Subaru R1
  3. Subaru R2
  4. Suzuki Alto Lapin
  5. Subaru Stella
  6. Daihatsu Move
  7. Daihatsu Sonica
  8. Daihatsu Move Conte
  9. Suzuki Wagon R
  10. Suzuki Cervo

List excludes all MT vehicles.

Suzuki sold more minicars than Daihatsu for the first time in 15 months in March 2009.

In 2008, Daihatsu had taken down Suzuki from the title of Japan’s biggest small car maker. Suzuki had carried this title for glorious 34 years.
